SOURCE MATERIAL FOR BREEDING MAIZE FOR RESISTANCE TO SMUT POWERCAT

Abstract

The results o f the study o f breeding values o f self-pollinated lines o f maize, different by genetic basis are presented. For a more complete and detailed study o f the inheritance o f the starting material signs inbred-family o f different generations were seeded, which determined the degree o f depression. This fact gave the possibility to highlight the valuable line, characterized by a high level o f manifestation o f a number o f signs.The purpose o f our research was to define the efficiency lines o f maize, different by their genetic basis and disease and pests resistance. In hetherosis selection the choice o f parental couples for crossing is very important. The maximum hetherosis effect is reached only by hybridization o f specially chosen lines.One o f the biggest source o f increasing corn seed production is maintenance and providing highly productive hybrids with stable output by changeable environmental conditions, stable to laying out, diseases and pests, intensive vaporizing o f seeds, those which completely correspond to demands o f industrial growing and harvesting.
